Summary
- Review course guidelines and other key documents shared first day of class.
- Review how to organize Results and Discussion section.
- Review how to develop body paragraphs for the Results and Discussion section according to the The M.E.A.L. Plan: A Comprehensive Approach to Paragraph Development.
- Option 1: Include results and a discussion within the same body paragraph. That is, begin with a topic sentence (main idea), include results (as evidence sentences), a discussion (as analysis sentences), and conclude with a linking or summarizing sentence.
- Option 2: Separate certain results in one body paragraph and follow-up with a discussion in the subsequent paragraph. In other words, begin with a topic sentence (main idea), include only results in one body paragraph, and conclude with a linking or summarizing sentence. Then, write a subsequent body paragraph that begins with a topic sentence, followed by a discussion (analysis sentences), and conclude with a linking or summarizing sentence.
- Combine options 1 & 2 throughout your results and discussion section based on the best way to write supporting sentences for each topic sentence.
- Include some citations to compare and contrast your results and/or discussion throughout your results and discussion section.
- Review How to make table captions and a list of tables in Word video below.
