Methodology

Theoretical framework

Classroom sessions will be guided by your tutor, who may ask student teachers to summarize, discuss, and/or present information on various teaching strategies and techniques offered in the Teaching of Language Systems (2nd semester) and the Teaching of Language Skills (3rd semester) subjects in order to be applied during the following teaching sessions. The sessions will be via Teams or any other platform for conducting online conferences.

Lesson planning and preparation

Student teachers will develop lesson plans with appropriate rationales. These MUST be checked by the tutor minimum TWO CLASS DAYS before the class presentation. Unit 1 contents will be applied and evaluated during the presentations. Lesson focus and language levels will be established in agreement with tutors and student teachers.

Class presentation

Student teachers will present a segment of a class (online) to their peers by integrating the skills and techniques discussed in previous theoretical framework sessions. This 15-minute online class segment will be recorded while tutor and other student teachers observe with an observation sheet.

Feedback session

Following the class presentation, questioning, analysis and reflection of the lesson given will take place in order to raise awareness of their successes and challenges to promote and enhance overall teaching development. Tutor and observers will give a copy of the observation sheet to student-teachers.
