1) Start with your research questions (RQs)

  1. Write 2-4 analysis-focused research questions: What patterns? How? Why? Under what conditions?
  2. Decide what counts as “evidence” for each RQ (talk, text, behavior, artifact)
  3. Identify the phenomenon: interaction, feedback, engagement, task performance, beliefs, identity, strategy use, etc. </aside>

2) Map your dataset (what you actually have)
